Cierra is a passionate advocate with years working in local nonprofits, focusing on supporting survivors of human trafficking and vulnerable populations in San Diego, and helping families and organizations throughout the country identify and intercede when they sense exploitation and trafficking could be taking place in their midst.
As a former General Case Manager for San Diego Youth Services as well as a Peer Courtroom Advocate for CESE Youth with San Diego Juvenile RISE Court, Cierra has been working directly with those most impacted by trafficking. She is currently a City College student majoring in Psychology with a certification in Conflict Resolution Mediation Skills. Cierra published her book titled “Reclaiming Our Stories” where she shares her personal narrative about being criminalized while being a victim of human trafficking.
Since then she has been featured on the cover of the San Diego Union Tribune’s newspaper as a human sex trafficking survivor devoted to helping others find great outcomes and new lives through education. With receiving San Diego’s Free to Thrive’s first ever “Thiver Award” and recognition from the San Diego Board of Supervisors for her work in the community, Cierra continues proves that there is life after trauma by turning opposition into opportunity.
Among the many topics she covers, Cierra shows how identify kids in trouble and get them to safety. She also covers the pitfalls of the justice system and recovering one's life and clean record after false conviction.
Cierra makes manuals for those looking for skills and tools to make an impact in their communities, safeguard their children, and guide the often challenging process of having a normal life.
Works one on one with families and groups for safe extrication of their children from potentially harmful situations. She also puts plans together for their healing and security moving forward.
Your sharing humbles me and prompts my consciousness, to will be more active in addressing injustice to Black women.
