The Phoenix Effect serves as the online hub connecting a full spectrum of impact initiatives, curbing human trafficking and empowering recovery from it, with the Citizens choosing to share their talents, protect our children, and restore our communities’ youth.
These are the initiatives of the Harriet Tubmans of today, people that escaped exploitation and slavery and, after healing themselves, turned back around to help others. We lift them up as prime examples of transformation and heart-centered service.
In the effort to protect our children and restore our exploited ones, the most informative voices and results-producing initiatives often go under the radar. Concerned Citizens, with hidden talents of their own, can bring these valued voices into the mainstream and make a difference to the thousands of kids they serve.
When it comes to exploitation, slavery, and human trafficking, it is the survivor-leaders, who we call star-leaders, whose unique understanding and abilities are the bright blue flame that burns the hottest and is crucial to the cause. That is the Phoenix Effect.
We provide the most helpful and comprehensive answer to the question of those concerned about human trafficking, “What can I do?”
We are where everyone can become a light and an activist by sharing one simple skill or resource they were born to give and where organizations desiring to make a real difference can directly impact a multitude of human lives each year.
Our survivor-leaders rise to the valued heroes and champions of change they were meant to be and lift millions with their inspiring wisdom and leadership.
Asked to use his filmmaking talents to assist a school for recovered girls, founder Michael Matucci, PhD, awoke to the enormity of trafficking in America while making “Teens for Sale,” which, after getting hundreds of thousands of views, was removed by Facebook and Instagram.
A year of research into the cause led him to connect with real-life Marvel heroines, women who escaped trafficking, did major healing, and then stepped up to protect kids and make a dent in this cause. They were doing extraordinary work and yet were often overlooked and underfunded.
He also noticed many Americans and Europeans were concerned about the issue and lacked direction on what to do. A symphony of opportunity arose in his consciousness.
Over several years, he developed this empowerment platform to fill a gap in the space and build bridges of understanding and collaboration. He feels most inspired by elevating the voices of the champions of change and empowering anyone who chooses to become a difference-maker with whatever they have to give. Everyone gets to become heroic.
