Biography

Autumn’s 20 years of advocacy around sexual exploration and violence against women includes speaking on public policy at the United Nations as well as the British Parliament, pushing for legislative change at the US Congressional level, and providing expert testimony in state and federal trafficking cases.

She has worked as a consultant for the Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center, a peer reviewer with the Office of Justice Programs, a policy consultant and trainer with Runaway Girl, Inc.

Autumn was instrumental in establishing and developing Standing Against Global Exploitation (SAGE) in San Francisco, California as well as educating on the impact of prostitution for the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office First Offender Prostitution Program (FOPP). She assisted other jurisdictions in the replication of both SAGE and FOPP programs to stem demand. 

She founded Survivors for Solutions to help survivor leaders realize their full potential and impact public policies on sexual exploitation. She’s also helped train first responders and educate those convicted of sex crimes.

Public Policy Consultant

Autumn is an approved Expert Consultant with the Department of State, the Office of Victims of Crime and is a member of several Survivor Advisory Councils. She is a co-founding member of the Executive Council with World Without Exploitation. She has a Bachelors in Political Science/Public Policy and a minor in Human Rights from University of California, San Diego.

Book Contributor

Ms. Burris co-authored an article in the Journal of Trauma Practice entitled “Been There Done That: SAGE, a Peer Leadership Model Among Prostitution Survivors as has contributed to several books as well as several books including Modern Slavery, Unheard Voices of Redemption, Prostitution Narratives, Prostitution Trafficking & Traumatic Stress and others.

Survivor Advocate

​Survivors for Solutions advocates for peer-led services and programs and survivor-informed policies at all levels of government. It also provides best practices consultation to governments, nonprofits and institutions. The vision is to abolish all forms of sexual exploitation and have the Survivor voice consistently present in public and private policies.
